26th BCCM St. Moritz with innovations and Stelvio Rally

The 26th edition of the British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz will herald a new era with two innovations: On the one hand, the meeting is now open to all British classic car brands. On the other hand, participation is reserved for vehicles dated until 1980. Meanwhile, the organizers have announced the rally route for the 2019 event.

Last July's silver jubilee edition of the BCCM St. Moritz was memorable indeed. On the occasion of the gala dinner at Suvretta House, long-time President Vic Jacob handed over to Suvretta House director Peter Egli. Immediately afterwards, the newly formed Organizing Committee started work on the 26th edition to follow up a successful quarter of a century with a new era. This includes opening up the BCCM to all British classic cars rather than limitation to Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and Austin-Healey as hitherto. At the same time, the Organizing Committee has introduced a vintage restriction whereby the next BCCM St. Moritz only admits British classic cars dated up to 1980. There will however be a “Youngtimer Class” for newer automobiles to take part in the meeting by invitation if they enrich the field with their special features.

Rally und Concours d’Elégance
Apart from these changes, the BCCM 2019 follows the programme of last year's jubilee meeting. The traditional rally on Saturday July 6 next year will be the Stelvio Rally from St. Moritz over the Ofen, Umbrail and Stelvio passes to Bormio in Italy, returning to the Engadine via Livigno and the Bernina pass. This attractive 200-kilometre route challenges participants with no fewer than five alpine passes. Highlight of the meeting on Sunday July 7 is the Concours d'Elégance in downtown St. Moritz pedestrian zone, where all the BCCM cars will be on show from 10.30 am until 2 pm.
